1. PURPOSE

This Privacy Policy outlines how Animal Management in Rural and Remote Indigenous Communities (ABN 71 173 062 319 & ACN 152 429 279), hereafter called AMRRIC, collects, handles and safeguards your personal information.

Personal information is any information or an opinion that identifies you or is reasonably identifiable and may include sensitive information. AMRRIC has developed the policy to protect your privacy. It also outlines how you can address any privacy concerns and make a privacy complaint.

This Privacy Policy has been developed in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). The Privacy Policy applies to the collection, storage, use and dissemination of personal information.

2. SCOPE

This Policy outlines how AMRRIC will comply to Australian laws to ensure the protection and privacy of personal information and personal data gathered both within the organisation and under its projects and programs.

The personal information and personal data gathered is from all categories of individuals and organisations that may engage with AMRRIC including:

  • Donors and potential donors
  • Community members and pet owners where AMRRIC undertakes programs and projects
  • Veterinary and animal care professionals and workers
  • Staff and prospective staff
  • The Board of Directors
  • Members of The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Advisory Group or other AMRRIC Committee
  • Volunteers and prospective volunteers
  • Members and prospective members
  • Contractors and sub-contractors

3. What information do we collect about you and how?

The kinds of information AMRRIC collects about you depends on who you are. It includes your name, and contact details and may include other personal information, such as your gender, your date of birth, profession and place of employment.

We collect this information directly from you when you provide your information to us in writing, via email, via telephone, via our web-site, via social media channels (e.g. Facebook, LinkedIn), when donating or applying for positions, enquiring or registering opportunities with us. We also collect information where applicable from nominated referees, through criminal history and working with children checks.

a) Donors

The kinds of information we collect about you include your name, contact details and credit card or other payment details.

We may also receive your personal information from other charities, or third parties that have provided us with lists to identify prospective donors.

b) Prospective employees

The kinds of information we collect about you include your name, contact details, gender, information about your education and employment history, tax file number, bank account details, referee information and information you provide in a CV or interview. We may also collect sensitive information about you from a recruitment service provider, your nominated referees and through eligibility to work in Australia or visa status checks, criminal history and working with children checks.

c) Volunteers /contractors

The kinds of information we collect about you include your name, contact details, gender, work history or relevant experience, referee information and any other information you provide in your application. We may also collect sensitive information about you, related to your ability to provide services to us and from your nominated referees and through criminal history and working with children checks.

4. What you need to know when using our website?

When you visit our website, in addition to any information you may input, we may collect and store your computer’s assigned IP address, the date and time of your visit, your location, the information accessed and the referring page. We will also collect other non-identifying data for statistical purposes. This information is not linked to your personal information unless required by law.

Like many websites, from time to time our website may use cookies, tracking pixels and related technologies. Cookies are small data files that are served by our platform and stored on your device. We use cookies dropped by us or third parties, including Google Analytics, Facebook and our Customer Relationship Management system, for a variety of purposes, including to operate and personalize the website. AMRRIC generally does not disclose personal information to other organisations, though may be done with receipt of your consent, if it is required or authorised by law (including in emergency situations or to assist law enforcement), or of it is believed it is necessary to conduct the functions and activities of AMRRIC.

AMRRIC uses a range of suppliers, service providers, contractors and partners to whom your personal information may be disclosed to enable the functions and activities of AMRRIC. They may include information technology service providers, fundraising or marketing agencies, banks, credit card companies, recruitment agencies, and professional advisers. Our general practice is to require these third party providers to comply with this Privacy Policy and all relevant privacy laws in Australia

7. Security of personal information

AMRRIC holds personal information in digital and hard-copy files. All hard copy material is secured onsite. All digital material is secured using password protected computers, firewalls and anti-virus software. Any digital transfer of information is secured using 256AES encryption – a highly secure encryption method.

We may also store information in ‘the cloud’ which may mean that it resides on servers which are situated outside of Australia.

AMRRIC will use all reasonable endeavours to keep personal information in a secure environment, however, this security cannot be guaranteed. Our procedures are designed to prevent personal information being accessed by unauthorised personnel, lost or misused.

8. How can you access or correct your personal information

You may at any time request access to, or correction of, any personal information we hold about you by contacting our Privacy Officer using the details below. We will seek to respond to your request as soon as is practicable.
